STAMFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a leading global technology research and advisory firm, has launched a research study examining finance and accounting outsourcing services that help businesses make their financial operations more efficient and effective.

The results of the study will be published in a comprehensive ISG Provider Lens™ report, Finance and Accounting Outsourcing Services 2022, scheduled for release in September. The report will cover service providers ranging from simple cash order (O2C) transactional operations to complex financial planning and analysis (FP&A) processes that support strategic decision-making.

Enterprise Buyers will be able to use the information in the report to assess their current vendor relationships, potential new engagements, and available offers, while ISG Advisors will use the information to recommend vendors to the Enterprise’s Buyer customers. .

In recent years, companies have shifted finance and accounting outsourcing (FAO) engagements from transactional contracts to holistic partnerships. In the face of supply chain disruptions and organizational changes triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, companies are increasingly willing to transform their financial and accounting operations using digital technologies. This can reduce costs, increase efficiency and productivity, improve data accuracy, and improve customer experience. Emerging technologies, including data analytics, intelligent automation, AI, and blockchain, offer new ways to improve M&A processes.

“Every CAM contract signed over the past two years has included automation and analytics,” said Jan Erik Aase, Partner and Global Leader, ISG Provider Lens Research. “Leading service providers can help customers find the best mix of technologies to transform their operations.”

ISG distributed surveys to more than 30 FAO service providers. Working in conjunction with ISG’s global advisors, the research team will produce four quadrants representing the CAM services that the typical company purchases, based on ISG’s experience working with its clients. The four quadrants are:

  • Provision-to-pay (P2P) servicesEvaluating vendors who can perform all accounts payable processes, from entering and processing invoices to ensuring timely payment.
  • Order-to-Cash (O2C) services, Evaluate end-to-end O2C service providers to efficiently receive and respond to customer inquiries, which can reduce backlog days and improve a company’s pricing flexibility.
  • Record-to-Report (R2R) Servicescovering businesses that provide end-to-end R2R services, such as general ledger accounting and reconciliation, regulatory compliance, and risk management, using tools that include automation and analytics advanced business.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Servicesevaluating vendors that provide comprehensive and meaningful data and information for functions such as budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and M&A and divestiture analysis.

A quadrant report will cover the global finance and accounting outsourcing services market and examine the products and services available globally. ISG analysts Angus Macaskill and Jocelyn Cheung will be the authors of the report.

An archetype report will also be released as part of this study. This report, unique to the ISG, is the study of typical types of purchasers of FAO services as observed by ISG advisers.

A list of identified suppliers and vendors and further details of the study are available in this digital brochure. Companies that are not on FAO’s list of service providers can contact ISG and ask to be included in the study.
